Exciting changes to the Nova Scotia Child Care Subsidy program!
Historically, family eligibility was assessed based on income and liquid asset value.
Effective May 29, 2024, applicants are no longer required to provide liquid asset value, letting families save to meet financial goals, like saving for retirement or a downpayment on a home, without impacting their subsidy eligibility.
The program is also transitioning from a paper-based form to an online/ digital application.
The move from paper to digital applications will reduce the administrative burden and decrease turnaround time for processing.
Paper-based/ PDF forms are no longer available for download, however applicants who have a paper-based/ PDF form in progress may submit them for processing (via the secure upload form for PDF applications and digital supporting documents) until Wednesday, June 12, 2024. After that date applications will only be accepted via the new online service.
Child Care fees will be moving to $10 a day, on average, by 2026.
